"Jakob Hunosøe employs the photograph as an instrument uncovering new meanings in our immediate surroundings. Using simple artifices, he adds a poetic and humorous dimension to our everyday surroundings...Rather than objectively exposing the surroundings, Hunosøe uses the photograph as a means of rewriting reality. With simple artifices such as reflections, additions and unexpected combinations, he adds a poetic, surreal dimension to his motifs. The photograph becomes an instrument enabling us to look at the world with different eyes and to uncover new meanings in our immediate surroundings."

"Danish artist, Jakob Hunosøe, photographs everyday objects in situations seeming both commonplace and unpredictable and, moreover, unnatural. His photographs are characterized by something oddly unreal despite their plainness and easily recognizable objects."

Helle Frøjk Knudsen, freelance curator, 2007

"Jakob Hunosøe has a special eye for paradoxes and oddities. Whether it is a humble everyday object or a human figure placed in natural surroundings, his works are often characterized by their discreet shifts in the condition of reality. The motifs often break the laws of physics or are put together in unusual ways that give his pictures a strikingly humoristic and poetic angle."

Anna Krogh, curator Kunsthallen Brandts, 2006
